DBVPG happily accepts strains of general interest by other persons or organizations for deposit. Strains should be supplied as pure culture and accompanied with as much information as possible regarding their origin and nutritional requirements; preferably supplied on the annexation forms, which will be sent upon request.

Upon receipt, strains will be assigned a DBVPG collection number and will be tested for purity, viability and conformity to any species descriptions supplied. On an exchange basis, depositors may obtain one culture listed in the catalogue for each strain supplied for deposit.

A service of long term, confidential deposit is available for those depositors who wish to conserve important strains while retaining their exclusive property. These will not appear in the catalogue, nor be available for general distribution except according to specific instructions by the depositor. Strains will be maintained in lyophilized form if possible, in a frozen state at -80°C, and if necessary also as fresh agar slants.
