Research at DBVPG

Research at DBVPG is connected with the activities of the parent Institution (Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science, University of Perugia). The team of the Microbiology Division (hosted in the above Department) has been working for many years in the area of investigation of yeast taxonomy, biodiversity and biotechnology.

Research at DBVPG has demonstrated that there is considerable value contained in the biodiversity of the yeasts conserved into the Collection. Such biodiversity can be of considerable value to a variety of industries (including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, cosmetics, etc.). The yeast biodiversity at present conserved in the DBVPG Collection and the know-how and skills of DBVPG researchers in understanding and working with the Collection is available for collaborative research project with any other possible partnership (Academic or Industrial).
